Fleet Boats

The RR fleet keeps and maintains a verity of boats for the use of the RR fleet members. The boats are used for many reasons such as training, experimenting with different type of sailing, racing in different events and regattas, safety boat and sometimes just for pure fun for the kids who work tirelessly on their one design boats.

All the boats are available for our members, all we ask is that you go through a 20min orientation with the Boat Captain (one of our teenager member assigned as a boat captain) so that you will learn the ‘ropes’ of the boat and our fleet rules regarding the boat you are taking out.

As safety is a guideline for all RR activities we ask that you take a Safety Pack that includes a dry bag, a mobile phone dry pocket, an emergency contact list and a map of Travis lake, All of which is provided by the fleet for member use. Life jackets are mandatory for everyone on all ‘on water’ activities!

Flying Scot

The Flying Scot is an American sailing dinghy that was designed by Sandy Douglass as a one-design racer and first built in 1958. In the RR fleet we use the boat for the occasional racing in centerboard regattas or FS regattas. We also use it as a learning platform for teaching the basics of Spinnaker in racing and finally this is the boat to tack out if you just want to go sailing with your family and friends as she can take up to 7 people comfortably and safely when not in racing mode.

Boat Captain : Julius Heitkoetter

Hobie F-18

The F-18 is a non foiling 18ft catamaran. This boat is FAST and requires a little bit more knowledge than the average sailor. If you can, go ahead and take your kids for some adrenaline rush sailing, if not ask one of the teenagers to take you out and show you what this thing can do:)

Most of the time you will find the older teens practicing and racing this boat both in AYC and off campus events.

Boat Captains : Lucy Brock and Ethan Froelich

Dolphin Girl (Novurania 420)

This little Rib is probably the most used boat in our fleet. We use Dolphin Girl for coaching, safety boat in regattas, support boat for many of our activities like RC boat in the Endless Summer regatta and sometimes just for some wakeboarding, kneeboarding and skiing on the lake on days with on wind.

Boat Captains : Stephen Froelich and Gal Sela (very old teenagers;)

Wee Sail (Optimist)

Wee Sail is our loaner Optimist for kids who want to start racing but still don’t own a boat. She is always ready to race a green fleet regatta, and and we will mack sure we help you get her to where it needs to be. This boat helped so many of our kids to their first start line, let’s add your kid to the list:)

Boat Captains : Roni Sela and Ramzi Matous
